My teaching thus far is characterized by experience and flexibility; I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to teach a wide variety of courses to a wide range of students, from incoming Freshmen to Graduate Students, at several institutions. These courses include both surveys and upper-level courses on Early Modern Europe, British and English history, surveys that include the entire span of European history, the Atlantic World, both ancient and modern world history, as well as historical methodology.  My courses incorporate both lecture and discussion with a significant emphasis on critical reading and writing. At all levels, from the introductory to the advanced, students in my courses are introduced to a wide-range of both primary and secondary sources. My teaching evaluations, both from students and from peers, have consistently been excellent and I was named one of the top Five Educators at the University of Kansas in 2010 by the Mortar Board Society (an organization of the approximately 50 top performing seniors at the University).
